Amy Barry is a member of The Ashcroft Law Firm’s Boston office. Working with former U.S. Attorney Michael Sullivan, Ms. Barry’s practice supports the Firm’s international, corporate, and regulatory clients.
Ms. Barry has worked with a wide variety of clients at The Ashcroft Law Firm on complex issues, including corporate compliance issues nationwide and internationally as well as litigation and investigatory efforts. Ms. Barry has recently represented a Massachusetts company in a business dispute involving the alleged breach of contract by a healthcare management organization in failing to pay for services rendered by the client company to skilled nursing facilities. She has defended international real estate developers in a private capacity against allegations of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty in connection with a charitable donation. She has advised a world leading airline in the global market for the movement of oversize, unique and heavy air cargo with regards to compliance with United States, European Union, and United Nations sanctions related laws and regulations and advised a marketing company on compliance with international data breach laws for over 35 countries. She represents beneficiaries in a trust dispute alleging trustee mismanagement of trust funds and an action for breach of fiduciary duty and also an individual in a Massachusetts Superior Court age discrimination matter for wrongful termination. Ms. Barry has assisted in the representation of a multinational banking and financial services company in their claim to funds held by the United States Government as a result of the acquisition of assets and accounts from a banking institution under investigation by the United States for money laundering. She has also participated in the extensive internal compliance review of Fortune 500 companies in the healthcare device field and defense industry.
Ms. Barry is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and has obtained her CIPP/US designation for privacy professionals, having demonstrated the requisite professional knowledge of U.S. Privacy Laws and Regulations. Ms. Barry is a member of the Boston Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section Privacy and Data Protection Committee, and assists with the publication of The Ashcroft Law Firm’s Privacy and Data Protection Newsletter. Additionally, Ms. Barry has completed training in the use of the Co3Sys Data Breach Response system.
Ms. Barry is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and Maryland, and is a member of the American Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, Maryland Bar Association, and Boston Bar Association. Ms. Barry received her Juris Doctorate from New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts, and was also a visiting student at California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science – International Relations, and English Literature from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.
Prior to joining The Ashcroft Law Firm, Ms. Barry gained substantial legal and business experience as a law clerk in the civil litigation field, where she had the opportunity to participate in several high stakes business litigation cases.
