Mr. Brown’s federal and state government experience allows him to advocate for clients across several areas of expertise, including white collar criminal defense, government investigations, corporate compliance, and internal investigations.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Brown served as an assistant United States attorney, where he handled a wide range of prosecutions and tried numerous jury trials. His work at the U.S. Attorney’s Office involved prosecuting large-scale smuggling operations, corrupt law enforcement officials, and drug distribution rings. Mr. Brown led the firearms prosecutions team for his office, establishing a new ATF office on the Texas border, and was among the first federal prosecutors to successfully indict several individuals under the new firearms trafficking and straw purchasing laws. He further led investigation teams involving the FBI, HSI, ICE, and BIS.
Before starting his government service, Mr. Brown worked in an Austin litigation firm representing clients criminally and civilly in state matters.
Mr. Brown attended the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas School of Law. While at UT Law, he was a member of the International Law Journal and fulfilled a Texas Law Pro Bono Pledge with 200 hours for the Richard and Ginni Mithoff Pro Bono Program.
